Snake bites, heat waves and wild fires OH MY!

Hi all! I am pretty sure a lot of you are familiar with Muprhy's Law where anything that can go wrong will go wrong...well, that pretty much sums up the last couple weeks! Remember that post a little while ago where I shared my horror story of Tuck being stung by a bee and learning that he is deathly allergic? Just a couple short days after that my little, sweet boy was bitten by a freakin' rattlesnake! What are the chances?! Rattlesnakes are very common in San Diego and 'tis the season. He was in critical condition for about 8 hrs and it was just a nightmare. I almost lost my little pumpkin!! It took about two weeks for Tuck to fully recover but I am very happy/lucky to announce that he is doing well now.

We had a crazy heat wave the past two weeks here in socal where it was miserably hot. I don't know about you, but I don't handle heat well. at all. Since Tuck was doing much better since his incident with the bee AND rattlesnake, we did make frequent trips to the beach which was really nice. Besides the sand being ridiculously hot where my dog was yelping in pain and hopping like a bunny it was a blast..my boyfriend had to carry him the rest of the way and we were forced to stay in the water but I have to admit, there was no other place I would rather be! :)

Lastly, we had some CRAZY wildfires here about a week ago! There were a total of I think 9 fires that were taking place all at the same time. The first one started a couple blocks away from my home!! I was at work at the time and was worried that the fire would spread...which it eventually did but the direction it was headed in didn't affect any homes or buildings. We were on alert the first 24 hours since we did not know whether or not we were going to be evacuated. Honestly, if we were asked to evacuate I was ready to just grab my dogs, my purse, and maybe my laptop. Needless to say we were thankfully not evacuated, however, the other fires that sparked caused some of my family and close friends to evacuate. They were able to return home this past weekend with no damages!! Considering the amount of acres that were affected, there was limited damage and I am so, SO very grateful for all the firefighters and officers that took care of my city <3 This situation could have been much worse than it was.

Now that everything is settling in again I am looking forward to being around the blogging world more often :)

Talk to you soon! xx

What the bee sting?!

Well this morning was quite the experience! My boyfriend and I started off the day at the dog park with our dogs and they were having a blast. They were playing tug (which is a HUGE favorite :) ) with a toy they found when we walked in and were their happy, playful selves. Just a couple minutes later Tucker immediately stopped what he was doing, sat down in front of us and started acting completely different. We found a stinger in his mouth which we didn't think too much of because he had been stung before and didn't show any signs of an allergic reaction. I removed the stinger from his mouth and started walking with him to the water bowl when I noticed him walking funny and looking completely disoriented. I immediately knew something was wrong and it was when he started heaving that we picked him up and rushed to the vet because this sting was definitely more than we originally thought it was. Luckily Tucker's vet is located down the street from the dog park so we got there quick and they were able to see him immediately. It turned out he was going into anaphylactic shock! I don't want to get into what that is but it's definitely something pretty scary and could be life threatening if left untreated. Today we learned the hard way that Tuck is severely allergic to bees. Long story short, Tuck was given everything he needed to get better and is back home <3

Events like this are absolutely terrifying! As a pet parent, or parent in general, it is hard to watch your little one suffer. I have never felt so helpless. Knowing that Tuck is deathly allergic to bees makes me really nervous about letting him run around (chasing birds, rabbits, lizards & bees!!) as much as he does but after talking to the vet I feel like I am better prepared to handle the situation in case this happens again...although I do hope this situation never comes back around. Bee stings are brutal!!

Tuck back home and looking handsome with his bandana he got from the vet:

Tucker : Pets Are People Too linkup

Hi guys! Some of you already know that I save Tuesdays for posts relating to Tucker but I decided on an extra for this week because those of you who have been following my blog for awhile know I absolutely love my dog. For those of you who are new or just dropping by, hello and welcome!:) you too will find out  soon and fast that Tucker is my world<3 He's my little fur baby! You can meet Tucker here.

I found this blog linkup hosted by two of my favorite bloggers and immediately had to join in, obviously!

Anyway, this was perfect timing because I was just reorganizing photos on my laptop and couldn't help but gush over how fast my little fur baby has grown! There were a few in particular that stood out to me that I wanted to share with the rest of you. This is Tucker when he was just a little guy at 3mos. old (he's 9 months now) playing tug with his big brother, Jeice: (Jeice is my best friend's dog, we decided to call them brothers since we're pretty much family)
They have gotten along SO well since day one. Jeice even acts like a big brother, being all disgruntled about having to take a picture...

but he'll humor us and take the picture anyway:)
This was Tucker's first time at the beach! his face <3 poor little guy was terrified but I'm glad to report that the beach is one of his favorite places to explore now(as you can see below). We luckily live in southern California so we almost always have perfect beach weather and yes, we do visit the beach quite often!

I can go on for days but this would be one super long post! With all the pictures I just recently rediscovered, you will definitely be seeing more of Tucker.(& Jeice)

eh..why not one more before you go? :)

Talk to you soon! xx

My Furry Friend : Tag

Hi guys! I saw this tag floating around YouTube and since my Tuesday posts have been Tucker related so far, I figured this would be totally appropriate for today. In case you don't know, Tucker is my little fur baby that I feature in a lot of my posts so here is a little more about him!

1) What is your pet’s name?
Tucker. This was actually one of the few names I had in mind when I was on my way to get him..it wasn't at the top of my list but it was the first name that popped into my head the moment I saw him <3

2) What kind of pet is it and what breed?
He is a dog, obviously, and he is a Brittany. His breed isn't very common where I live since they're bred to hunt and I live in the suburbs. I do live by a bunch of trails and places like that so he still gets to exercise his natural ability! Brittanys are very affectionate, intelligent and very high energy.

3) How long have you had your pet friend?
I have had tucker since May of this year so 6 months now!

4) How did you get your pet?
I was looking for a dog for awhile and was actually looking into getting a Vizsla but I fell in love with the Brittany breed the moment I met Jeice (Jeice is my best friend's Brittany. Jeice and Tuck are about 7 months apart). I found a breeder online and I drove to pick him up. It was a ridiculously long drive but it was so worth it! I would have loved to adopt but most of the shelters by me had more little dogs and pit bulls than anything else. Not that there's anything wrong with those breeds, they're just not the breeds for me.

5) How old is your pet?

9 months.

6) What are some quirky things about your pet’s personality?

Tuck is adorable and I'm convinced he knows it and uses it to his advantage! if he knows people are watching him he'll do whatever he can to get your attention. He's a lover more than anything! He loves being around people and will snuggle right on your face when you're laying down (he doesn't know personal space lol) and he has different tones of bark depending on his mood.

7) What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?
I love Tuck so much! He always finds ways to make me happy or put me in a better mood. Even on the days when I'm super busy with life and feel guilty for not being able to take him down to the park for long or on a hike or to the beach, he still snuggles up next to me at the end up the day and reminds me what unconditional love is<3

8) What are some of your favorite past times with your pet?
Hiking, visiting different dog parks (there are some great ones where I live with awesome dogs and amazing owners), going to the beach, and driving with the windows down.

9) What are the nicknames that you call your pet?
oh jeez he has so many! Tuck most of the time. I used to call him tater or tate when he was just a few months old because he looked like a tater tot:)

Do you have a pet? if so, I tag YOU!
